Shared Humanity Meditation
A practice based on three principles.
1. I, Like you, Want to be Loved
2. I, Like you, Want to feel of Worth
3. I, Like you, Want to Suffer Less
Found within these words we are all human beings, a shared humanity.
By using the power of association through intention with your Angel Aberdeen jewelry, this simple practice helps deepen your sense of compassion, restore connection, and remind you that we are never truly alone.
How it works:
- In the beginning, plan for 1 minute, set a timer, sit with your breath and your intention.. Once your practice feels more solid, up your time to 5minutes, build your pratice with one brick at a time. Before you know it, you will have a home for your breath to sit in.
- Best time of day is before you begin, begin with this intention meditation.
- Find a quiet, comfortable space.
- Place your palms facing up, hand in hand, gently on your lap. Hold your Human Being Coin in your top hand.
- Feel your coin—its shape, its weight, its presence.
Set your intention: I am charging this coin with the remembrance that we are all human—each of us seeking love, worth, and relief from suffering.
Find your breath, let it deepen and slow, soon your breath will take its own rhythm.
Settle into stillness.
Using your imagination, see your breath move through your Angel Aberdeen treasure while you inhale.
- Inhale through your treasure with the words: I, like you, want to be loved.
Exhale, offering the gift of love to someone who supports you.
- Inhale through your treasure with the words: I, like you, want to feel of worth.
Exhale, offering the gift of worth to the person who loves and supports you.
- Inhale through your treasure with the words: I, like you, want to suffer less.
Exhale, offering the gift of less suffering towards your person that shows support.
Repeat these principles along with your gentle breathing and let them imprint themsleves into your beautiful piece until your timer chimes.
Now, adorn your jewelry, bring it with you for the day.
Additional thoughts:
As you breathe, reflect on our shared human longings:
I, like you, want to be loved.
Every person you meet—whether kind or difficult—is seeking love, just as you are.
I, like you, want to feel of worth.
The stranger next to you desires to matter. Just like you.
I, like you, want to suffer less.
We each carry pain, seen and unseen, physical and mental.
We are all doing our best to find love, feel our worth, and lighten our suffering in the best way we know how.
As your practice grows and deepens, gently expand the circle of your compassion.
Offer this gift of thought to someone outside your immediate support system:
—a co-worker
—someone you want to forgive, but do not yet know how
—a stranger you do not know
—the hardest one, to think of someone you know who has caused pain and suffering.
We are human, we are practicing humans, we are not perfect, we do not always carry the best practices, and many times we see unconscious actions and ignorance taking the main stage with humans against humans, but we all long to be loved, to feel of worth, and to suffer less, this remains to be the core principles that binds humanity together. We are Human.
That said, recognize the moments when the most compassionate act is protecting your own well-being.
Know your boundaries. Know your worth. And when the burden is too heavy, seek outside professional help.
You are not alone in this practice.
